Why Singapore should use Cauliflower Rice

Rice. One of my favourite food and almost a must have at every meal. However due to consuming so much carbs I am finding it tough to lose the weight I need to lose.

Lately I found out about 'cauliflower rice' that has taken the US by storm. Said to be 25.5 times less in calories and taking only 3 minutes to cook. That's about the time a cup noodle takes to be ready for consumption. What is there not to like?

However, this product is not readily available in major supermarket chains such as NTUC Fairprice, Giant and Sheng Siong. I think we need this in Singapore as soon as possible. The governement has always encouraged healthy eating and this is what we need.

It's rather sad to see 7 out of 10 Singaporeans in public places such as MRT and shopping centres sporting flabby tummies that protrude. Obesity is on the rise in Singapore and it is a sad reality that children are not spared from this. Not only is cauliflower rice a great idea to substitute rice in normal meals, it can help increase daily dietary fibre intake as recommended by HPB.

Fortunately the cauliflower rice could be made at home. It's a little extra work but not impossible. I only wish the government could help subsidise cauliflower prices to encourage more people to buy it.
