Konjiki no Word Master - Yuusha Yonin ni Makikomareta Unique Cheat manga review

I've watched Sword Art Online, Log Horizon, Danmachi etc and am in love with this particular genre of fantasy gaming. I do play some RPG games myself and this is one new manga I discovered a while back.

Konjiki no Word Master is made by Tomoto Sui and Ozaki Yuusuke. What really captured my attention is "Word Master".

Summary from Mangago:

There has been much conflict between the races of the 'Humas', the 'Gabranth', and the 'Evila'. To combat the 'Evila' race's Demon King, the kingdom summons five high school students from 21st century Japan who have the power of Heroes.

However, only four out of five of those students had the status title of 'Hero'.

Okamura Hiiro was summoned by accident since he sat near the other four students in class. Unlike them, he did not have the title of a 'Hero' but instead he had the title of 'Word Master' and 'Innocent Bystander'. Seeing through the 'Humas' kingdom's deceit and insanity, Hiiro decides that he has no wish to partake in their selfish war. Leaving the castle, Hiiro decides to join the Adventurer's Guild and does whatever he feels like. Who knows? Maybe there is some merit to being a 'Word Master' and an 'Innocent Bystander'.

Although the manga is updating very slowly I feel that it should be given a chance to at least have an OVA made for an anime. Word Master intrigues me as the main character is seen as someone driven by his own goals, unwilling to follow the path of fate nor give in to what fate had planned for him. His eagerness for new knowledge, experiences (food especially) and open mindedness brings forth a very refreshing point of view.

No doubt there are many other anime characters that share similar personalities, I find that Hiiro is a much closer character that I can relate to on a personal scale. He is the kind of character that the world really needs with his sense of justice and eccentricity. Life is more interesting than becoming stronger and in the latest update where he met a foe stronger than he could ever be we see the change.

The words we use against others will one day be reflected back on us and Hiiro is seen to 'evolve' as a charcter in this chapter making readers ponder about the true definition of a hero. Unlike the other classmates, Hiiro wasn't a hero. However in many of our hearts, he already is one when he travelled with beast kin on his quest for knowledge.

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for something non mainstream.
